Julia Carr Baker
Fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church Julia “Twink” passed away peacefully Thursday, November 28th, 2024 at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Baker. Twink is survived by 3 children Julie Baker Murphy (Christopher), Christopher Carr Baker (Katharine) and Charles Frederick Baker, Jr. (Kim), 7 wonderful grandchildren and 8 precious great-grandchildren.
Twink was born on July 20, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri. She loved her Sacred Heart upbringing and kept in touch with her Villa Duchesne family. Twink had incredible and unwavering faith. You could find her at daily Mass first thing each morning.
Summers were spent in Douglas, Michigan where she could be seen at the golf course or beach sporting one of her many unique beach hats.
She was always busy. She had a successful Real Estate career. Her passion for bridge earned her life masters standing in the game. Twink enjoyed cooking, knitting, and her artwork among a myriad of other hobbies.
Mom had friends of all ages whom she deeply cared for and spent countless hours with at bridge or on the phone sharing stories. Her ability to connect with people across generations speaks to her open heart and wisdom shared.
We are grateful for Mom’s many friends who have supported her with love and generosity with their friendships. So many have expressed what an important role she has played in their lives and she valued each and every one of you.
We will miss Mom’s guiding light as we navigate life without her.
Services: Visitation and funeral Mass will be held Monday, December 9 at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church 1510 Bopp Rd., Des Peres. Visitation at 11:00 a.m. with the Mass to follow at 11:30 a.m.

December 6, 2024 at 1:32 pmWe send you our thoughts and prayers as we join with you in mourning our cousin, “Twink.” We, the Hennellys (John [“Joe”], Helene, Michael, Kevin, & Kathleen), are first cousins to Twink. Her maternal grandmother is also our maternal grandmother. Our mother (Helene Anne nee Keaney) was half-sister to our “Mama Jule,” as we lovingly called Twink’s mother.
After scattering to all corners of this country, all 5 of us now live in New Mexico. From here we hope you find peace both with her passing and in each of your lives.
